About the event

Join Teresa Crickmar this July for a three hour jewellery workshop set in the picturesque village of Lode, just outside Cambridge. Make a day of it and take a walk around the beautiful grounds of Anglesey Abbey, just two minutes walk away. Creative Therapy Space offers a fun, nurturing environment for you to experiment and learn the skills to make beautiful handmade jewellery using precious materials. Come along on your own or bring a group of friends to create fantastic shared memories. Choose from the inspiring projects listed below:

  • Triple stacker rings with stone setting
  • Spinner Ring
  • Textured Necklace exploring fusing and reticulation
  • Chunky chain bracelet
  • Fold-formed pendant with Keum Boo
  • Hammered and stamped Posy Ring
  • Friends, family, lovers - sets of meaningful jewellery
  • Hammered anticlastic cuff

You can see Teresa Crickmars work locally in Primavera Gallery, Cambridge and she opens her workshop space for Cambridge Open Studios for weekends in July. She is a qualified teacher, Reiki master and has been designing and making jewellery for over 25 years. Teresa is a sought-after tutor. She creates a fun, relaxed atmosphere to learn in and oozes positivity. Learners join her classes a little unsure and sometimes lacking confidence with the skillset or creative elements but quickly become attached to jewellery-making with her enthusiasm for all things fire, metal, and sparkle. You will gain the skills to make beautiful, professional-looking work that will receive plenty of compliments.

Once you have decided what you would like to make, let your tutor know so that she can order the materials, these will include sterling silver, stones and potentially gold filled wire. They will be at the workshop ready for you along with all the tools and equipment you will need to create your masterpiece. Aprons and safety equipment is provided, however if you need glasses for close up work you are advised to bring them.

Refreshments are offered including sweet treats, cold drinks, tea, fresh coffee, and a vast selection of herbal teas. Toilet facilities are available on site and you are welcome to sit in the lush garden if you need a break.

No previous experience of metalwork is needed. A good level of hand-eye coordination is needed to complete fine work using torches, saws and motorised tools. You will need to be able to move safely in a workshop environment and be able to follow clear instructions easily. You must adhere to the health and safety aspects of using the equipment as demonstrated.

The total course fee is £150, this includes three hours teaching time, materials, use of specialist equipment and a guarantee of a finished piece. The tutor will help you with extra time and support if needed. There will be materials in the workshop should you want to buy them at cost price to make additional items in the three hour workshop.
