I love the online training at onecommune.com and I take full advantage of their free courses. You need to be disciplined and schedule in time to complete the daily modules or the days will quickly pass by and you will find yourself half a course in and wanting more as their free access courses have a limited time period.
The most recent course I completed was called The Desire Map by Danielle LaPorte and I completed the video lectures and activities religiously everyday. I'm so glad I invested my time and energy as I am now putting into practise my learning everyday and am starting to see the positive changes even after only a week. The basic premise is that we each have our own set of feelings that makes us glad to be alive and feel at our happiest. The course carefully guides you through all the feelings good and bad and then hones those feelings to a certain few that you can then plan opportunities to feel them in daily life.
If I'm overwhelmed one day then I pick up where I left off.
I've tried lots of happy habits to get into including gratitude practise, daily yoga-foo (a combination of yoga and fitness moves my husband and I made up), mantras, healthy eating, lemon water in the morning and so on but one by one they all fall away until I find the next thing. With a map of my core desired feelings under my belt I can now add a yoga slot or a mantra practise into the next day but it doesn't have to be everyday and it doesn't even have to be done (without feeling guilt or blame). If I'm overwhelmed one day then I pick up where I left off. Gratitude is now part of the daily practise alongside planning for experiences to feel my core desired feelings. A quick Google search will bring up a list of benefits to this kind of work alongside the science behind it.
As a teacher and a mother with a terrible memory I am not only apt at planning I actually relish it. I love making good long lists of ideas, projects, jobs, shopping... and I'd be lost without my calendars and notebooks helping me to achieve my soul desires. With my fancy new notebook, plenty of colourful fineliners I go through the six life areas and find opportunities for the next day. It's such a simple idea, you work out how you want to feel and plan your day around them, but how many of us go through life in a robotic motion wondering why we had such a rubbish day again? I understand not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to spend their time in exactly the way they choose but really, five minutes to decide on a meal that brings you joy or eating it outside or making time to snuggle with your loved ones are tiny changes that could make a big difference to you and your relationships.
If we make our core desired feelings conscious in our outside world we can start to feel them more frequently and start to live the life our heart desires.
If you'd like to find out more about how I put this into a daily practise let me know, I'll share with you :)
